Judd aims for preseason action as a rookie
Jets rookie receiver Jordaapronxn Mattapronxhews isn’t sure if he’ll play on opening day or not, but coach Rex Ryan said the team will have plenty of competition for the first-round pick. Matthews said after practice he doesn’t plan to play but he will try to catch passes.
“I will probably be ready in one or two weeks, but we have to wait and see how much competition comes down the road,” Matthews said Monday.
The Jets announced their second-round draft pick is cornerback Quincy Wilson, and Matthews is set to miss OTAs and the Jets’ minicamp after a minor ankle injury. He said he didn’t know what he did wrong, but the injury was nothing significant, and he’s happy with his injury report.
“I’m feeling fine,” Matthews said. “I can’t see myself playing in a couple more weeks. I got this injury from the (NFL) Combine so I’ll just see where it takes me.”
But the rookie said he will not be focused on how he has looked as he gets his feet wet, and the team could use his leadership with rookie quarterback Jameis Winston.
“I’ll try to take all the time in the world, make sure my teammates are excited about what they’re seeing and then do my best to help them 바카라as much as I can,” Matthews said. “I’m ready to go.”
