The shooting death of Courtney Robertson by her son Eric was witnessed by nearly 60 people who gathered on a large lawn on Thursday afternoon.
Robertson, 26, was shot after telling family, friends and co-workers she was about to leave her job as a receptionist at a high-end store in Fort Worth, Texas, on Thursday afternoon.
She had been fired from her job at a Walmart earlier in the day.
The family posted photographs on social media showing her lying on the ground near her vehicle, saying she had been shot twice in the back. The shooting happened soon after 10.30am when someone called police.

Eric is believed to have fired several shots at the vehicle, which caught fire. Police said one shot, fired near the car, missed her. She then fell onto a lawn.

The officer, identified as Robert Brown, told the Associated Press that Eric was still holding Bella at the time the shooting took place. Brown could not comment on his account.

Police said they found two gun clips in the passenger seat of the vehicle. There was also a 9mm Glock pistol and about $4,000 (£2,500) in cash in the driver’s pocket.
